A moradora de rua Amanda Silvestre da Silva, de 26 anos, implorou por ajuda na noite desta terça-feira logo após ter sido incendiada, por volta das 19h40, por um homem ainda não identificado. O crime aconteceu na Rua Batista das Neves, no Rio Comprido, região central do Rio. Ela teve 72% do corpo queimado e seu companheiro, Adailton Farias dos Santos, de aproximadamente 40 anos, sofreu ferimentos em 19%.
— Ela gritava: “Não vou aguentar. Me dá água, pelo amor de Deus”. As pessoas não podiam fazer nada. Chamamos os Bombeiros e o Samu e esperamos ajoelhados. Foi uma comoção. As pessoas rezando em volta dela — conta o advogado Paulo Leon, 53 anos, que mora no prédio ao lado de onde o casal costumava dormir.
A Secretaria municipal de Saúde informou que Amanda e Adaílton estão sendo tratados no Centro de Tratamento de Queimados do Hospital Municipal Souza Aguiar. Ambos têm estado de saúde estável, mas inspiram cuidados.
Paulo conta que foi para a rua quando ouviu uma gritaria. Quando chegou ao local, viu Adailton correndo atrás de um homem que seria o autor da agressão. A vítima, quando percebeu que Amanda estava pegando fogo, voltou para ajudá-la. Ele também estava em chamas, nas coxas.
— A cena era de filme de terror. Ele jogava água nela de uma poça, mas não apagava. Aí ela se jogou na poça e conseguiu — conta a testemunha.
Adaílton e Amanda moravam há cerca de um ano na rua do Rio Comprido. Segundo amigos, ele é da Paraíba e é conhecido como Pará. Já Amanda é de Belford Roxo, mas vive nas ruas desde os 8 anos.
— Eles nunca incomodaram ninguém, não vejo eles usando drogas, nem bêbados. Não sei porque fizeram essa covardia com eles — diz Paulo.
Moradores de rua da região que conheciam o casal contaram que os dois trabalham como garimpeiros recolhendo lixo e vendendo para fábricas de reciclagem.
— Sempre somos agredidos com chutes e xingamentos. Mas nunca pensei que isso poderia acontecer — contou um morador de rua, que não quis se identificar com medo.
