O corpo humano possuí muitos segredos, mas alguns deles podem ser explicados facilmente – basta saber como fazer a pergunta cerca.
1- Espirrar com os olhos abertos
Antes de saber a verdade, esqueça o mito de que isto acontece para impedir que oglobo ocular salte para fora devido a pressão do espirro. Isto não acontece. O verdadeiro motivo é muito mais simples: puro reflexo. O espirro é uma reação tão violenta que faz com que todos os músculos da face se contraiam. É por esta razão que, mesmo que você não queira, as pálpebras se fecham na hora. Em suma, trata-se de uma reação espontânea, quase impossível de ser evitada.
2- Comer e respirar ao mesmo tempo
Você talvez já deve ter parado para pensar no assunto. Afinal, por que não é possível respirar e engolir ao mesmo tempo? Bom, isso acontece graças a epiglote, uma cartilagem que serve para fechar a ligação da faringe com a glote durante a deglutição. Ela também evita a comunicação entre os aparelhos respiratórios e digestivos, uma vez que funciona como uma espécie de válvula da laringe, que é do sistema respiratório. Desta forma, durante a deglutição, a laringe se eleva, enquanto a epiglote se abaixa, fechando a laringe e permitindo a passagem do alimento. Durante a respiração, o oposto acontece. Tudo feito para evitar engasgamentos.
3- Prender a respiração até a morte
Esta aqui é bastante simples. É impossível prender a respiração até a morte simplesmente porque o cérebro não permite. O organismo prontamente reage à falta de oxigênio e provoca um movimento involuntário que faz com que a pessoa volte a respirar. É um mecanismo similar ao que acontece quando nos queimamos e, de modo inconsciente, tiramos a mão do perigo quase que imediatamente. Se dependesse do corpo humano, ninguém nunca tiraria a própria vida.
4- Fazer 3 coisas ao mesmo tempo
Quando uma pessoa faz duas coisas ao mesmo tempo, uma parte do cérebro conhecida como córtex pré-frontal medial se divide e foca uma parte em uma coisa e a segunda parte em outra. Quando uma terceira tarefa aparece, no entanto, as coisas se complicam um pouco, e o cérebro não é capaz de realizar todas elas com a mesma qualidade. Mas é importante ressaltar que isto só vale quando todas as tarefas são feitas ao mesmo tempo, e não em intervalos, como já é bastante comum – enquanto cozinha, você pode perfeitamente largar a colher para checar o smartphone, mas tente fazer isto sem parar de cozinhar, enquanto ainda se concentra em um filme pela TV.
5- Fazer cócegas em si mesmo
Isto não é possível graças a uma parte do cérebro chamada cerebelo. Ele é o responsável pelo controle dos movimentos voluntários do corpo. E é exatamente por isto que não rimos quando as cócegas são feitas em nós mesmos. O cerebelo é perfeitamente capaz de prever as cócegas causadas pelo próprio movimento da pessoa, mas não é capaz de detectar quando é realizado por outra. Isto faz com que as áreas do cérebro que forneceriam a sensação de cócega sejam bloqueadas. Basicamente, só funciona quando são inesperadas.
